About the role

About you:
- Must have a minimum of two years acute experience in the area you wish to apply for
- Must have a current registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife with AHPRA (or AHPRA in principle).
- Able to work 80 hours a fortnight across a seven-day rotating roster including AM, PM, & Night Shifts
- Be able to practice collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Be willing to work across a variety of clinical settings/services and locations
- Must be committed to providing high quality patient centered care
- Have excellent and effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Possess excellent clinical skills

Registered Midwife – Maternity Services
Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility with 26 large spacious birthing rooms, with four having luxurious birthing pools making women comfortable, secure and safe throughout their maternity experience. As a Registered Midwife (or Nurse/Midwife) you have the opportunity to work on rotation across areas such Antenatal Clinic, Maternity Assessment Centre, Birthing Suite & High Care Unit, Postnatal Maternity Wards and Domiciliary team.

Registered Psychiatric Nurse – Mental Health Services
Our Mental Health Services at Western Health specialist clinical programs through Adult and Older Persons Mental Health and Wellbeing Community Services include: hospital bed-based services (including the Western Women’s IPU), Community Mental Health Programs, Emergency Mental Health, Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, prevention and Recovery Centres (including Yana Yana Women’s PARC), St Albans Community Care unit, Adult Mental health Rehabilitation unit and Dual Diagnosis services.

Medical Services at Western Health offers a wide range of services including General Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Specialty Medicine (Renal, Neurology, Stroke, Respiratory and Sleep Disorders Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Rheumatology and Dermatology).

Registered Nurse - Surgical Services
Surgical Services at Western Health offers a wide range of services including orthopaedics, urology, general surgery, ENT and plastics, Ear Nose and Throat (ENT), Head and Neck, Upper Gastrointestinal and General Surgery, and Thoracic surgery.

Registered Critical Care Nurse - Intensive Care Services
Our Intensive Care Services provides a range of supportive therapies to critically ill patients 24 hours a day seven days a week and incorporates high dependency beds. Intensive Care Services operate at Footscray and Sunshine with a mix of medical and surgical patients in critical conditions. Applicants to possess Australian equivalent postgraduate qualification in critical care.

Registered Critical Care Nurse – Cardiac Care Services
Our Cardiac Services includes CCU and Cath Lab and provide services targeted at diagnosis, intervention and treatment of patients affected by cardiovascular disease, consisting of inpatient and outpatient services. Cardiac services operate at Sunshine and Footscray. Applicants to possess Australian equivalent postgraduate qualification in critical care.

Our Pool nurses work across a variety of medical, surgical and subacute clinical settings across all campuses at Western Health. Working on Pool provides nurses a great opportunity to enjoy variety of clinical settings and expand their clinical skills.

Registered Nurse – Emergency Department Nurse Pool
Emergency Services at Western Health consists of paediatric and adult emergency medicine and Short Stay Unit. ED Pool nurses work across SSU and ED services at Sunshine, Footscray,
Williamstown, Bacchus Marsh and Melton Hospital. The inter-professional team provide care to life-threatening conditions and are supported by Clinical Nurse Educators and Clinical Nurse Instructors.

Registered Nurse – Newborn Services
Newborn Services currently has 6 NICU beds as well as a combination of HDU and SCN beds. There are approximately 7000 deliveries per year at Western Health and Newborn Services admits nearly 2000 patients a year. Active plans are underway to expand our beds in the near future.
