About the role:
Our Cardiac Services, including CCU and Cath Lab, at Western Health are seeking highly skilled and motivated Registered Nurses to join our team. Cardiac Services provides a range of services targeted at diagnosis, intervention and treatment of patients affected by cardiovascular disease, consisting of inpatient and outpatient services.
Cardiac Nurses at Western Health have the opportunity to:
- Work collaboratively to achieve high quality patient care outcomes with regard to cardiac intervention and the electrophysiology service,
- Contribute to the development of future cardiac nurses through supporting the Post Graduate Diploma pathway in Cardiac Nursing in partnership with La Trobe University.
- Work towards a Clinical Nurse Specialist position
- Participate in the management of the deteriorating patient in conjunction with the Critical Care Outreach Team.

Registered Nurse – Cardiac Cath Lab
- Location: Sunshine and Footscray Hospital
- Employment Type: Part Time, Fixed Term and Ongoing
Western Health Cardiology and Cath Lab service is one of the busiest in Melbourne and we pride ourselves on consistent delivery of a high standard of patient care including ongoing advancements in technology and research.
Key responsibilities:
The Western Health CCL (Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory) service is distributed across both the Footscray and Sunshine campuses, requiring flexibility in the movement of staff and patient lists to meet fluctuating patient demand, particularly during high-priority STEMI cases.
The Cardiac Cath Labs have a strong emphasis on promoting positive workplace culture and is involved in numerous quality improvement projects within Western Health.
About you:
- Hold a current AHPRA registration
- Have recent acute Cardiac Cath lab experience
- Have completed a post graduate qualification in critical care/cardiac nursing – preferred
- Be accountable and demonstrate a strong emphasis on providing safe clinical care
Registered Nurse – Cardiac Care Unit
- Location: Footscray Hospital
- Employment Type: Part Time, Ongoing
The Footscray CCU are seeking Registered Nurses with postgraduate qualifications in Cardiac Nursing (or equivalent) who can demonstrate outstanding clinical skills and a strong drive for continuous professional development throughout their career.
Both CCU’s are supported by onsite 24 hour Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories (CCL) and Intensive Care Units
As well as managing acute cardiac conditions, the units offer a unique model of care in hear failure management. This program is a collaborative service led by the Cardiology and Geriatric Medicine teams, incorporating heart failure clinical nurse consultants within the multi-disciplinary team.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure high quality patient care is delivered in line with Western Health policies and procedures
- Provide exceptional care to patients with acute cardiac conditions
- Opportunity to undertake leadership roles and development programs
- Role model strong clinical and professional behaviours and lead by example
About you:
- Successful completion of a Bachelor of Nursing qualification with RN Registration through NMBA
- Successful completion of Postgraduate qualification in Cardiac or Critical Care Nursing
- Demonstrated cardiac nursing experience in an acute setting
- Competent in Advanced Life Support (ALS) to facilitate care and transport of monitored patients
- Demonstrate excellent clinical and organisation skills
- Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly developed communication and teamwork abilities
