About the role:
Western Health is seeking motivated and compassionate Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPN3) to join our innovative Western Health Mental Health at Home (WHMH at Home) service — a pioneering model of acute mental health care delivered in the community.
WHMH at Home is a 24/7 service providing the equivalent of ten acute mental health beds in the community. Underpinned by the Hospital in the Home (HITH) model, the service provides intensive, recovery-oriented treatment to adults experiencing acute mental health crises who would otherwise require hospital admission.
As an RPN3, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based mental health care within consumers’ homes. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide clinical assessments, therapeutic interventions, medication management, and ongoing support for consumers and their families. You will play a vital role in promoting recovery, preventing relapse, and supporting people to live safely and confidently in their communities.

Key responsibilities:
- Deliver safe, high-quality, and recovery-oriented mental health nursing care in the home environment.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, risk management, and treatment planning in collaboration with consumers and their families.
- Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including psychoeducation and medication management.
- Contribute to care coordination, discharge planning, and linkage with community supports and services.
- Participate in reflective practice, quality improvement, and research activities to enhance clinical outcomes and consumer experience.

About you:
You are a dedicated and empathetic mental health nurse who is passionate about making a difference in people’s lives. You bring clinical expertise, strong communication skills, and a commitment to recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care.
You will demonstrate:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health Nursing (or equivalent).
- Minimum of three years’ experience in mental health settings (acute, community, or crisis intervention).
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and contemporary service frameworks.
- Strong assessment, risk management, and therapeutic engagement skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
