The Cancer Services Clinical Trials Unit at Sunshine Hospital is part of Western Health Cancer Services. The unit has a dedicated team of Research Nurses and Trial Coordinators coordinating phase 1-4 Oncology, Haematology, Radiotherapy and Palliative Care trials. If you are passionate about improving cancer patient’s outcomes, have a strong interest in caring for cancer patients and their families and would like to be involved in the development of new drugs, enjoy working independently but as part of a small and dynamic team this is the job for you.

 

We offer on the job training and mentoring, ongoing education opportunities and a flexible working environment. This opportunity would suit an experienced Oncology nurse interested in expanding their knowledge and skills into clinical trial nursing.

 

To be successful in this role you must be an independent team worker with excellent clinical oncology nursing skills including administering of cytotoxic and/or clinical trial drugs, good time management and patient advocacy skills and commitment to quality best practise.

 

To be Successful in this Role, you will have:

  • Registered Nurse Nursing experience in Oncology/Haematology including administration of cytotoxic drugs
  • Cannulation and venepuncture skills
  • Excellent patient assessment and management EVIQ chemotherapy administration competency
  • Ability to commit to at least 7 days per fortnight minimum (0.7 EFT)
  • Excellent communication skills (desirable)
  • Computer literacy
  • Two years post-graduate oncology experience (desirable)
  • Post graduate qualification in cancer nursing or trials management or working towards is desirable
