We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Mental Health Clinician to join our Acute Community Intervention Service (ACIS) based in Melton. This is an opportunity to work in a fast-growing region and play a key role in delivering responsive, community-based acute mental health care.

 

About the Role

As a Senior Clinician within ACIS, you will provide timely, intensive, and short-term interventions for individuals experiencing acute mental health distress. The role focuses on crisis assessment, risk management, and rapid response, supporting people in the community and helping to reduce avoidable hospital admissions.

You will combine direct clinical care with leadership responsibilities, contributing to a strong, supportive team culture while building capability across the multidisciplinary team.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive mental health assessments, crisis intervention, and short-term treatment
  • Lead and support colleagues through clinical guidance, mentoring, and supervision
  • Coordinate care and advocate for consumers and their families/carers across services
  • Contribute to service development and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Undertake risk assessment, safety planning, and crisis response
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation across electronic systems
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, emergency services, and community providers
  • Practice in line with the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and relevant standards

 

About You

You are an experienced clinician who is confident working in high-demand, fast-paced environments and brings a calm, thoughtful approach to crisis care.

You will have:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience (Nursing) or 7 years’ experience (Allied Health) in mental health
  • Demonstrated experience in acute or crisis mental health settings
  • Strong clinical assessment and risk management skills
  • Experience in clinical leadership, supervision, or mentoring
  • Sound knowledge of mental health legislation and recovery-oriented practice
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across services
  • A commitment to consumer-centred, respectful, and inclusive care
