About the role
The Senior Clinician at Burnside PARC (BPARC) is a pivotal leadership role within a short-term residential mental health recovery service. Ideal for an experienced clinician, this role offers the opportunity to lead and support a multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented care to consumers with complex needs. In partnership with a Mental Health Community Support Service (MHCSS), the Senior Clinician provides advanced clinical oversight, coordinates care, delivers discipline-specific interventions, and fosters a culture of learning and continuous improvement. This role directly supports Western Health’s mission to provide Best Care—care that is safe, person-centred, coordinated and right—by enhancing consumer outcomes, service quality, and staff capability. It is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to innovation, drive reform, and support sustainable growth in mental health care across one of Victoria’s most diverse and rapidly expanding regions.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical leadership and mentoring to multidisciplinary staff, ensuring high-quality, recovery- orientated care
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessment and deliver evidence-based interventions for consumers with complex needs
  • Collaborate closely with the MHCSS partner to coordinate care, support daily routines, and co-develop individual recovery plans
  • Lead or contribute to service development initiatives, and quality improvement projects aligned with best practice standards
  • Provide discipline-specific supervision, support student placements and contribute to staff capability building.

About you:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and current registration with AHPRA (for nurses, OTs, and psychologists) or eligibility for Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW membership).
  • Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) in public mental health, including assessment, risk management, and delivery of evidence-based interventions.
  • For Social Worker applicants - a minimum of 7 years' experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical leadership, support multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to a positive and collaborative team culture.
  • Advanced communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to engage effectively with consumers, families, and stakeholders.
  • A strong understanding of relevant legislation, professional codes of ethics, and the principles of trauma-informed and recovery-focused care.
