About the Role:

Are you a passionate mental health professional looking to take the next step in your career? Join the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Service (CAPS) at Western Health and play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, family-centered care.

 

As a Senior Mental Health Clinician (RPN4, OT3, SW3, P3), you will provide clinical and operational leadership within a recovery-oriented framework. You will ensure young people (aged 0–17) and their families receive the right care at the right time by leading screening and assessment processes.

 

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Services division was established following the Royal Commission to innovate and improve care across Western Melbourne. We serve a rapidly growing community, providing hospital-based and specialist services that focus on the best outcomes for our consumers.

Key Responsibilities:

This diverse role involves:

  • Providing consultation-liaison services at Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital and the Sunshine Hospital Emergency Department.
  • Delivering evidence-based, discipline-specific interventions for complex clinical issues.
  • Mentoring and supervising clinical staff and students.
  • Collaborating with consumers and families to develop individual recovery plans. 

 

About You

We are looking for an experienced clinician (Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, or Social Worker) who thrives in a collaborative environment.

To be successful, you will need:

  • Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of post-qualification experience in mental health (specific requirements vary by discipline).
  • Qualifications: Full registration with AHPRA or eligibility for AASW membership.
  • Skills: Advanced mental health assessment skills and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Leadership: A natural ability to role model best practices, solve problems, and resolve conflicts.
  • Essentials: A current driver’s licence and the ability to obtain police, working with children, and immunization clearances.
