Senior Pharmacist - Emergency Medicine

About the role:
Western Health is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Senior Pharmacist – Emergency Medicine to join our dynamic Pharmacy Department and play a pivotal role in supporting patient care across our Emergency Departments and Urgent Care Centres.
In collaboration with a dedicated team of Lead and Senior Pharmacists, this role will contribute to clinical service development, governance, quality improvement, education, and staff leadership within a supportive environment.
This position is permanent, full-time (80 hours per fortnight) and available now!
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver expert clinical pharmacy services within Western Health Emergency Departments, actively participating in multidisciplinary patient care and code/call response events such as sepsis calls.
- Lead and support pharmacists through supervision, coaching, and performance development, ensuring high standards of practice and professional growth.
- Contribute to the development and review of policies, procedures, guidelines, and medication protocols to support safe medication management in the Emergency Departments and Urgent Care Centres.
- Collaborate with key medical, nursing, and allied health stakeholders to improve patient outcomes through excellence in medication management.
- Engage in education, training, quality improvement and research, and departmental development activities to advance practice and support workforce capability.
About you:
- At least five years of diverse hospital clinical experience, with demonstrated expertise in emergency medicine.
- Excellent clinical judgement, up-to-date medication knowledge and a strong commitment to evidence-based care.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor and support pharmacy staff within a dynamic clinical environment.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and teamwork skills.
- Strong initiative, problem-solving abilities and a forward-thinking approach to service improvement and innovation.
- Availability to participate in early and late shifts.
