We're looking for a skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician to lead the implementation of high-quality education, orientation, and training programs at Western Health.

 

This senior opportunity within our Pharmacy Team is available in a full time, permanent capacity.

 

Key responsibilities:

The Senior Pharmacy Technician - Education will collaborate with the Pharmacy Education Team to assist the Lead Pharmacy Technician and other Senior Pharmacy Technicians to plan and implement education, orientation, and training programs for pharmacy technicians in addition to supervising the pharmacy technician team. There will be opportunities to take part in projects to help develop pharmacy technician services in accordance with accreditation and legislative requirements. This role will also perform some routine pharmacy technician duties as required.

 

In addition, the Senior Pharmacy Technician - Education may be required to participate in the production of aseptic and non-sterile products (including cytotoxic and biohazardous preparations) within a functioning cleanroom, as well as co-ordinate the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme claim.  

 

About you: 

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

  • Holder of a Certificate IV in Health (Hospital Pharmacy Technician) or equivalent (or working towards). 
  • A minimum of four years full time experience as a qualified hospital pharmacy technician. 
  • Completion of VCE or equivalent. 
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Experience in supervising staff and coordinating staff. 
  • Commitment to customer service, and to respond willingly and pleasantly to customer enquiries. 
  • Ability to work as a team member. 
  • Experience in implementation of continuous quality improvement processes. 
  • Demonstrated initiative and motivation. 
  • Capacity to assign priority to responsibilities and to meet time constraints. 
  • General computer skills including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications.
