Senior Psychologist (Paediatric Psychology)

About the Role
An opportunity currently exists for a Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist / Senior Clinical Psychologist / or Senior Ed & Dev Psychologist to work within the Paediatric Psychology Services at Western Health. Specifically, the Senior Psychologist will operate alongside Paediatric Medicine to provide neuropsychological and developmental assessments to children aged between 18 months and 18 years of age who are either part of the Newborn Services routine developmental follow up program for extremely premature and low birth weight infants, or who are referred to the multidisciplinary Autism Assessment Clinic.
The Senior Psychologist will engage effectively with families and carers to provide a family centred service that meets the needs of each child. The role will work collaboratively with other clinicians and personnel in Newborn and Paediatrics Services to share specialist knowledge and skills and enhance clinical outcomes for consumers. In this role, you will also work more broadly alongside a team of passionate and highly skilled Paediatric Allied Health professionals which includes Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Nutrition & Dietetics, Social Work, and Physiotherapy. There will also be opportunities to contribute to quality and research activities, and to supervise postgraduate trainees.

Key responsibilities:
- Deliver evidence-based psychological assessment, treatment and care planning
- Improve access to specialised care for women’s health
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support integrated care
- Lead case discussions and contribute to patient education and self-management strategies
- Supervise psychologists
- Support service development, quality improvement and research activities
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in administering a range of infant, child and adolescent psychometric instruments including (but not limited to) the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development (4th Ed.), Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2), Wechsler Preschool & Primary Scale of Intelligence (4th Ed.), and Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (5th Ed.).
- Passion for working with clients with complex and chronic health conditions, in a dynamic clinical setting.
- Commitment to a Psychology Service that promotes an evidence-based, best practice culture, and supports continuous service improvement.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ensure safe and high-quality patient care is delivered in line with Western Health values and policies.
- Can think quickly and broadly whilst triaging new referrals.
- Utilise the full spectrum of your psychological training and expertise to assess clients’ psychological needs.
- Liaise with the treating team and relevant other parties effectively and regularly.
- Contribute personally to the team culture.
- Contribute flexibly, creatively, and enthusiastically to initiatives for ongoing improvement; and
- Bring a sense of calm and stability whilst working with complex clients in a diverse and dynamic clinical settings.
