About the role

Western Health is seeking a highly adaptable and compassionate Grade 3 Social Worker to join our Allied Health Team at the Sunshine Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre (Unit 3).

In this full-time permanent role, the successful candidate will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team, and two others social workers, to provide individual and group-based assessment and intervention in an acute psychiatric unit. 

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the SW2 and SW4 to deliver individual and group-based comprehensive psychosocial assessments, evidence-based interventions, and discharge planning, for consumers on a 26-bed inpatient psychiatric unit.
  • Provide clinical support and guidance to the SW2 and SW students, as well as the wider allied health team, in line with social work skillset and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with families, carers, supporters and the multi-disciplinary team to support consumers to work towards their recovery goals.

 

About you:

  • Have an approved degree from a recognised school of Social Work or other qualifications approved for eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of working with mental health consumers, including experience conducting psychosocial assessments, referring to appropriate supports and providing evidence-based interventions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a commitment to contributing to a positive workplace culture.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Have the capacity to build a therapeutic alliance with consumers and their families/carers, maximising participation in collaborative recovery and wellness planning.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, evidence-based interventions that support consumers with complex mental health needs.
  • Hold a current drivers licence.
